Automox’s Commitment to Making Change for Racial Justice and Equality

Over the last few weeks the names and tragic deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and others have been etched into my mind as I have found myself, like many of you, forced to confront the unethical and unequal treatment of our Black community. The more time I spend with the question, "How did we get here?” the more I have come to realize that we actually never left. The foundations of systemic racism have been in place for hundreds of years and its bias sewn into our unconscious in ways that few of us could begin to admit. Even now.

Automox is a venture-backed startup. Like all startups, we approach the world with a singular and truly obsessive desire - to disrupt and change the status quo in our industry for the better. We take those ideas and we fuel them with great people, urgency, and capital to achieve what 9 out of 10 have said would be impossible to do. That is exactly what we are doing at Automox. We are changing the face of Endpoint Management and delivering infrastructure confidence and security outcomes that could only be dreamed of a few years before.

Change. It is the premise on which we are building our company. Yet it is our employees' ability to change and challenge themselves that I am most proud of. Every year I challenge our incredible team to write down, discuss, and share with the whole company that which they choose to leave behind, and to form a bold commitment towards what they want to bring forward in the year.

Today, our world is calling and it is asking us to change. Asking us to leave something behind, and bring forward something new.

As a company, we stand with those that are suffering the injustice, inequity, and exhaustion of living defensively on a daily basis. As a team, we are committed to creating a company that reflects the world which we would all like to see. We are taking an introspective look at our hiring process and training programs as we begin to recruit across the country. We are assessing our values and how they align with our actions and language both internally and externally. And we will be providing employees with the tools to surface their cognitive biases, confront old ways of thinking, and the support to affect the change they want to see in their own lives and the world.

The issues of systemic racism are deeply rooted, and it will take a concerted effort to make long term durable change. We believe in this change, we believe it is possible, and that it starts with each of us.
