Today, let’s highlight one of the most active and accessible community members, Kevin! Kevin has been contributing thoughtful, pertinent questions about APIs in the Automox console and we couldn’t help but take notice.
We asked Kevin to share a bit about himself and it turns out a lot of us relate to him! Thank you Kevin for sharing your story.
Community Member Spotlight: [KEVIN]
Where do you work and what’s your role?
Kevin: I’m a Microsoft System Administrator at a software company that specializes in back-office automation tools for financial institutions. My role consists of patch management, policy writing, software implementation, and network infrastructure design among other things.
What do you love about your job or organization?
Kevin: I love being a key contributor in making the company more secure and progressing towards our goals. Our company is growing fast, so we have to set up a strong foundation before we move into the next phase of growth. It’s very challenging.
What skills do you find important in your role day to day? How do you keep your skills sharp?
Kevin: In my role, I have to keep all my technical skills sharp and make sure I’m comfortable with every tool we use on the job. I’m constantly learning and training while asking many questions!
If you could magically obtain any skill to help your team advance on its automation maturity journey, what would it be?
Kevin: I’d like to be able to write better PowerShell scripts. I’d also love to have the automations skills to fully automate all of our patching and security needs.
How did you get your start in the IT industry?
Kevin: I had gone back to school and was working in a new state. I applied for an entirely different job but was ultimately offered an IT job as a Project Manager. So that’s where I started!
How have you used Generative AI in the past year? How did it help you?
Kevin: Yes, AI helps me brainstorm policy creation ideas. It's not necessarily great for writing policy, but it gives me a good 'skeleton’ to start from or a sales pitch overview to use as a foundation for ideation.
