Without continuing education, a security team is only as good as it was the day you hired it plus whatever it picked up on the job. Automox CISO Jason Kikta records this field report live from DEF CON 32 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. He says DEF CON stayed true to its hacker roots, down to the fully hackable Raspberry Pi-style badge. Black Hat felt different to him: increasingly vendor-focused and reminiscent of RSA. Much of the Automox team was on the ground with him. They learned things they do not see day to day, and they taught others to make someone else more secure.
