End User Notification Option for Greater Patching Control

Automox’s cloud based patch management solution now features the option of end user notifications. The feature provides IT managers and system administrators more flexibility and control over the critical process of keeping workstations patched and secure anywhere in the world.

Automox was built to simplify the patch management process. Providing the capability to manage patches for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux operating systems, as well as third-party software, from a single dashboard, Automox’s custom policy engine has taken the hassle out of automated patch remediation by allowing IT to create specific patch policies that meet their company’s unique needs.

The new end user notification functionality is specific to each individual patch policy and can be turned on or off with the click of a button. When activated, a notification is shown to end users 15 minutes before patches are applied. The user has the option to allow the update to run, or defer the the update by one, four, or eight hours. They can defer the update a maximum of three times before the patch application will automatically occur.

The functionality increases transparency between IT management and end users. Application of critical OS and software patches is communicated in real time to end users. They now have greater insight into the security status of their own device as well as greater level of control over exactly how and when updates are applied, eliminating unplanned interruptions and keeping their productivity high.

Companies of all sizes are looking at automation to improve their security position. Keeping workstations patched is a critical step in reducing their vulnerability footprint. This is especially important for businesses in regulated industries such as banking, healthcare, and education. Each of these verticals have unique patch management and compliance guidelines that are mandated at both the corporate and industry levels.

The ability to keep up with the increasing number of patches released across OS’s and 3rd party software applications is nearly impossible without a significant investment of time and resources. And as new, more specific, compliance requirements are emerging, patch automation delivers both speed and efficiency, enabling businesses to adhere to the new policies, while also keeping their end users informed and protected.

End user notification is one of many new and upcoming features that builds on the platform’s powerful System Management functionality which enables users to quickly and easily create, assign, manage, and edit configuration policies in a single interface across every OS they manage.
